Boost Your Metabolism And Lose Fat
Your metabolism is the energy your body uses to keep all your organs working properly and you alive. As one of the main energy sources for the body is fat, if you can boost your metabolic rate you will lose fat, lose weight and feel healthier.
Your metabolic rate if dependent on several different factors including how much muscle you have, your genes, how active you are and how often you eat. If you are physically inactive your metabolism slows down as it does normally as you get older.
All these changes are however reversible. It is absolutely not a fact that as you get older you get fatter and there is nothing you can do about it. Here are a few suggestions to help you succeed in increasing your metabolic rate, lose weight and becoming far healthier.
Firstly you need to exercise your muscles. As you get older your muscles tend to shrink. You can reverse this process by doing simple weight training twice a week. Not only will you feel stronger and look better, your metabolic rate will receive a long lasting boost.
Many women are very worried that if they do any sort of weight training they’ll end up with massive muscles. This is fortunately a totally false idea. Regular training with light weights leaves you with toned and lean muscles not massive ones. Massive muscles require heavy weight training and alas often pharmaceutical help.
Don’t skip your breakfast. It is the most important meal of the day. Studies show clearly regular breakfast eaters are thinner than those who omit their morning food. Food first thing boosts your metabolism more than when eaten mid morning.
Cut down on the amount of sugar you eat. Adding sugar to hot drinks has to be ditched. Sugar is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream, insulin is produced and this encourages the production of fat.
Change your eating habits to embrace 5 or 6 small meals a day rather than 2 or 3 big feeds. Research has clearly shown it really helps your body maintain a higher metabolism.
You have to exercise 4 or 5 times a week so in addition to the resistance training do some cardiovascular exercise such as fast walking, jogging, cycling or swimming. If you don’t like exercising alone check out your local paper or online for running clubs etc. You’ll be able to find new friends and the exercise is fun.
Whatever you do have fun and congratulate yourself on being healthier and enjoying life more.
